This is the guy Tarantino's keen on casting in his next, unknown film.
This summer's "Inglourious Basterds" remains our favorite summer film (though, technically, it did arrive at absolute end-- and during what some might argue was after the end-- of the summer), so when we got the news that Quentin Tarantino is already working on his next script, you can bet that we were excited. Then we realized that details on the project were scarce, and our excitement abated. But let's take a look at what information we do have, huh? Read on for the details, my gentle Examiner readers...
If you haven't seen "Inglourious Basterds", by all means check it out (and you'll be able to very soon: the war/comedy/thriller hits DVD and BluRay in a matter of weeks): that film rocked. Because it generally takes Quentin Tarantino years of screwing around with his writing to get a film going, we expected "Basterds" to be the last we'd hear from him for some time. But if the news we've just recieved is correct, it may be sooner rather than later that we're sitting down for another hilarious Tarantino flick.
Slash Film is reporting that French actor and director Johnny Hallyday ("Detective", "The Pink Panther 2") has been telling people that one of his next projects will be in a Tarantino film that the director is writing just for him. Here's what they have to say:
The most exciting piece of Hallyday’s new interview is his claim that Quentin
Tarantino is currently writing a script with a role set aside just for him. We all know how that worked out for Warren Beatty with Kill Bill, of course, and there’s a whole host of actors that I wouldn’t be in any hurry to discuss Inglourious Basterds with. But will Hallyday get what he is promised? And what will that actually be, anyway?
Slash Film doesn't really have any details on what this project might be (we know that Tarantino's been threatening to waste precious time by returning to the "Kill Bill" well for a third go-round, but there's no indication here that that's where this is headed; there's also been reports of a "Basterds" prequel/sequel, which might be more likely considering Hallyday's, uh, French-ness), so we'll have to just stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
