Is Oxygen making people sick

Although I am an optimist when it comes to believing that "change is gonna come" for Blacks as a people, I am not sure that those who seek to continue the exploitation of many of the unresolved issues for us as a people share my optimism in this regard. It seems that many media outlets continue to display a total disregard for Blacks and our plight toward improving our destructive conditioning. There is no doubt in my mind that there are a plethora of conditions we are faced with as a people, but when we have to see these negative depictions of the Black family experience, such as that which Oxygen Media intends to air on their television station, which many of us (Blacks) watch, then I say enough! Black Face Minstrelsy in 2013? Are you kidding! I read Oxygen's Media Press and found its content to be just as disturbing as the individuals who participated in the show "All My Babies' Mamas" which features rapper Shawty Lo, who fathered numerous children, by several different mothers. Not only is he and the mothers a part of this travesty, but they have dragged their children into this. There are many responsible for allowing this kind of programming to continue to go on, there are also many who continue to go unchallenged by those of us who are appalled by such programming. Just imagine the humiliation that the children will experience throughout their innocent lives because of their parents foolishness. I think many of us can think of some stupid things we have done in raising our children, but we do not need to have such errors in thinking turned into a so-called reality show. I also think that anyone close to any of these parents should take responsibility, be them Black, White, Asian, Latino, whatever, and tell them the truth about what it is they are subjecting their children to. I hope that Oxygen takes a moment and really look at it for what it is...a slap in the face to every Black person in the world! The world is changing. We must begin to hold people accountable for these kinds of insults upon any group of people. You can begin right now with this accountability by going to Change.org and signing the petition to stop the showing of "All My Babies Mamas".
