On what may live to be the most ‘aired’ Oprah television show of the decade, Armstrong promises to “staged” camera, lights, action, tell it like it is from his side of the doping scandal cycling curtain. Armstrong will be ‘given the ball’ and it will be all about his emotions. Answering accusations of cheating, lying, doping, and conspiracy is not proper interrogation, when he gives Oprah the “ultimate interview” Thursday evening January 17, 2013, we’ll see. Oprah has interviewed Armstrong before in 2005 and has worn a Livestrong armband, 900,000 were sold, a record the day the show aired.
Coy Armstrong? Oprah has the information about the previous Armstrong show on her website, follow the arrows, and lists Armstrong as “an unstoppable for and the definition of change.” Oprah site says, he literally went from deathbed to being the first person winning the Tour de France.”
The no-holds-barred-interview
The lifetime ban from cycling and loss of seven Tour de France titles would level anyone. The interview is being done on Armstrong’s turf, his Austin, Texas residence. This hardly seems to be the place for Armstrong to divulge to the world his who, what, when and where-abouts as far as the doping allegations are concerned. Sitting in with mama Oprah to “soften the blow” and staging the confession seems way out of line, a press conference would be the professional athlete thing to do, in line of the doping charges that reach around the world.
Armstrong is not being paid for the interview
Oprah is not known for her hard-nosed interviewing with scandaled celebrities, and Armstrong knows his way around an interview and a television camera, this appearance will be no different. Armstrong is not sitting in from of doping officials answering allegations and addressing charges and facing disciplinary action. Oprah could make O. J. Simpson look like a bowl of cherry Haagen-Dazs ice cream. Oprah doesn’t interview people she doesn’t like. An edgy interviewing from a sofa inside Armstrong’s home is unlikely.
