He's done what no other President has been able to do in the last 100 years.
With the recent passage of President Obama's health care bill through the Senate, we need to stop and take a look at the facts. A number of people try and dissuade you by stating that you are going to end up paying for everybody else's healthcare, that this bill will cover abortion, that this health care plan is the first step into the United States becoming Socialist. Or that this is all some grand plan of President Obama's to take over the private sector. Are any of these sensational statements true?
Let's take a look at them one by one. First, is Obama trying to take over the private sector? No. He's just trying to reform health care. When he wants to create a government department to take over Wal-Mart you can start worrying. Next, will this bill pay for abortion? Well, that's a mixed issue. The House's version of the Bill prohibits funding for abortion, whereas the Senate plan allows states to choose whether to ban abortion coverage in health plans offered. Individuals purchasing plans through the exchange, would have to pay for abortion coverage out of their own pocket. So the answer is no, you won't be paying for abortion.
Next on the list, is will you be paying for everyone else's healthcare? Well, why are you complaining now? You're paying for Medicare, and Medicaid. You're paying for ambulance calls, and life lifts. That's where your tax dollars are already going. The only people who will be paying MORE is single individuals who make more than $200,000 a year, and married couples who make more than $250,000 . Is this a problem? I don't see why. If you're that wealthy you're already paying 1.45 percent tax, and it will be raised to 2.35 percent. It will be higher if you're wealthier of course. But seriously. If you're making $200,000 a year, have some pride in your country and some pity for those less well off than you. It's not even $5,000 a year. I would give half of my wages if I made $200,000 a year. So that's the mark. If you are single, and making less than $200,000 you won't take a hit. And if you're a couple making less than $250,000 than you're safe too.
Last but not least, is this passage of Health Care Reform Bill a step towards Socialism? Well in a way. Public health care is a page out of Socialism's book. Are you complaining about that? I don't see why you would complain. Here's a list of all the "Socialist" programs we currently have. I hope you choose not to use them if you have a problem with President Obama's "Socialist Health Care":
- Public School
- Public Transportation
- Department of Transportation
- Fire Department
- Emergency Services
- Police Department
- Health and Welfare
- Social Security
- U.S. Postal Service
So if you're so opposed to this health care bill, please, don't call the Fire Department when your house is burning, don't call the Police when you need help, don't send your kids to school, but most of all, don't drive on those socialist roads made by that socialist Department of Transportation.
