Is Michael Jackson's "This is It" already getting a sequel? (with video)

Is "This is It" already getting sequelized?  Find out in the video below, folks.

Michael Jackson's "This is It" opened to a $23m box office return this weekend, just months after the King of Pop's death and Sony's acquisition of the footage of Jackson rehearsing shot by Kenny Ortega.  And as we all know, anything that gets to be that popular...tends to get parodied.  Let the "This is It" spin-off's begin with this parody video from Secret Sauce.  Read on for the video, my gentle Examiner readers....

We didn't make it out to a theater to see "This is It" this past weekend, but we did manage to see the first half hour or so of that film.  What struck us was: it's kinda boring.

That's commentary, of course, but that's what we thought. And that's not to mention the uneasy feeling we got from considering the idea that Jackson very likely wouldn't have been happy that what was intended as private-use footage was playing in big-ass theaters, worldwide.  So, chances are, the Comedy Examiner's Office will not be seeing the sequel, "This is More of It":

Yes, that's a parody, but we think it's kind of on-the-nose as far as "This is It" goes.  It's not that we aren't fans of Michael Jackson-- loved the dude-- but "This is It" was not, from the footage we saw, the be-all, end-all Michael Jackson experience that we were lead to believe it would be.  Perhaps things really picked up later in the movie?  We'll have to wait for the BluRay to decide for sure.  In the meantime, keep an eye on your local listings as to when "This is More of It" should be hitting theaters.  Just don't hold your breath.

Instead, spend your time checking out some of these other recent articles from the Comedy Examiner's Office:

"Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will host this year's Oscars"-- in which we learn the details on the 2010 Oscars: who's hosting, when it's on, and whether or not it'll be unbearably long for the 83rd year in a row.

"Flight of The Conchords" grounded, not likely to return for a third season on HBO"-- in which we confront the terrible news that a third season of "Conchords" ain't likely to happen.

"Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman might be "Dirty Old Men"-- in which we take a look at the proposed next film for stars Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson.  Go ahead and guess what the title is.

"DirecTV parody using Heath Ledger as "The Joker" to sell cable subscriptions?"-- in which we look at a recent parody video of the "Dead Celebrity Pitchman" ads that DirecTV's been running.  Funny video included!

    Dear "Um, NO":

I thought what I saw of it was. That's the thing about opinions: they're all different. Like I said in the article, I only saw about half an hour (perhaps a bit longer) of the film, and though I'm a Michael Jackson fan, I didn't think it lived up to the hype. Perhaps it gets much better after that half hour, but that's why I said-- in the article, you'll notice-- that I was gonna give it another shot on BluRay.

    Thanks,
    Scott Wampler
