Is Michael Douglas throat cancer caused from smoking? This is a question on many of his fans minds, especially those who have smoked or still do smoke cigarettes.
Douglas has stage 4 cancer, which is usually a stage that has a lower rate of being cured. Stage four means that the cancer has spread, according to the National Cancer Society. As Douglas said on Letterman, he would much rather have stage 1, which is much easier to treat.
Douglas' tumor is in his throat at the base of his tongue, which is certainly in the path of any cigarette smoke drawn into the mouth. Douglas himself said on Letterman that he use to be a drinker and smoker, which is what most likely played a part in his cancer. According to the Medical News Today, this type of cancer is caused by smoking and drinking.
Douglas' wife, Catherine Zita-Jones is furious with doctors who failed to diagnosis Douglas' throat cancer sooner. He had gone months ago to have his throat looked at and they failed to diagnosis this until it hit state 4, according to RadarOnline.
The medical term for throat cancer is Laryngeal and Pharyngeal Cancer, according to the National Cancer Society.
Michael Douglas has some long ago ties with the State of Connecticut, he attended high school at the Choate Rosemary Hall, Wallingford, CT.

How could they miss that. I'm sorry, I work in healthcare and with a history of smoking and drinking along with persistant sore throat/pain....this is not the fault of healthcare....it is going to the wrong doctors......GET A SECOND OPINION....studies have shown time and time again...that when people get mad and sue a doctor...often it is not the one really at fault. This is because they have emotional feelings about thier phsyician.
