Is Miami 'miserable' or what?

It’s all about perspective. Whether the road is half full or half empty, the politician is half corrupt or half clean, the mugger’s taken half your money and left the other half or the airline only lost half your luggage, etc.

The half assed ranking by Forbes Magazine may be half right. Miami has jumped over Stockton California as the magazine’s ‘most miserable’ city in the United States. Could we invite them to South Florida to be on the receiving end of another of our number 1 rankings; road rage? http://forbes.com

What is it about the sub-tropics that attracts the kind of behavior that allows us to ‘be miserable?’

West Palm Beach is 4th and Fort Lauderdale is 7th. They’re hot on our heels for the ‘race to the top; or is it the bottom?

2 years ago we were number 6 in the rankings, last year 2nd and this time we made it all the way to the top. What pushed us to the top? How long can we remain? It depends on criteria like unemployment, foreclosures and political corruption, our manners on the highway and how long it takes to get to work if we even have a job.

Real estate problems are another factor. Almost half our homes are under water which could mean that we refinanced way past what they’re worth. What did we do with that extra money? Maybe we went out and got a tattoo. Totalbeauty.com has said that Miami is number 1 as the ‘most tattooed’ area in the country. There are about 24 shops per 100,000 people in the Miami and Miami Beach area. No waiting!

While in some people’s opinion that doesn’t make you look good, Total Beauty also said we’re the ‘best looking city’ in the entire country. Maybe they didn’t see our tattoos.

Detroit, Flint and Warren Michigan are #2, 3 and 10 on the Forbes list. We may be in contention with Michigan as the ‘Most Miserable State’ in the country, each placing 3 cities in the ‘top’ ten. If you believe a warm climate better is than a cold one (eliminate the hurricanes please) we’ve got the edge.
