Is Magnus poised for a TNA world heavyweight title run in 2013?

Last month, Magnus returned to TNA Impact Wrestling in a huge way. In fact, his return was arguably the best moment of TNA wrestling in 2013. Magnus appeared in front of his home crowd in the UK while TNA Impact Wrestling was on tour. The crowd blew off the roof for Magnus and easily showed the fans at home why this guy is going to be a major player this year. I believe 2013 will be his year and I see the world strap around his waist. In a March 5th interview with my colleague Kevin Kellam, Magnus commented on the TNA world title and acknowledged that his name is getting mentioned more as a potential future champion:

"It’s my job now to do everything I can that if that issues is presented to other people, that they when they see me they say ‘yes, yes he could’. It’s certainly something that is being mentioned more and more. And I am obviously very grateful for that, yet at the same time I try not to think too much about that stuff. I just try to do the best I can with what is given to me, and continue to try to steal the show."

Last year, Magnus really starting turning heads and getting fans to realize that he has main event potential. Additionally, the locker room started publicly acknowledging that Magnus was a younger talent that had a bright future with TNA. I'm here to tell you, that the "future" is now. It's time for TNA to push Magnus towards the upper echelon of the company.

Magnus will get to share the spotlight this weekend at the LockDown PPV as he's teaming up with Sting, Samoa Joe and James Storm to take on Aces and 8's. This is the perfect first step for ascension within the company. However, after this PPV, TNA should really give Magnus a major single's feud with a top name. I would love to see a feud between Roode or Aries and Magnus. It would be an instant main event on Impact Wrestling and can lead to a major PPV match.

Wrestling is about building up younger talent so that you can have more stars. Magnus is that star and he will shine brightly in 2013. For more on Magnus's interview with Mr. Kellam, click here.
