With the 25 anniversary of Madden NFL come and gone, has the series started to wear out it's welcome? Throughout it's 25 year history, Madden has not had to much competition. It started out as the best football game on the market but when ESPN 2k5 came out (with Terrell Owens on the cover), people started to wonder if Madden was starting to fall off.
The franchise started to beef up it's game modes back in 2006 when they added superstar mode and starting utilizing a lot more online. Now the game has re-tooled it's entire game mode system with additions like be a head coach where you essentially create your team from the ground up like a franchise mode. They also have an online franchise much like NHL's GM connected mode.
Madden 25 is at the peak of their game currently. They necessarily didn't do any major improvements to this year's edition but instead made smaller improvements to show why they are the best in the market and why there is no competition. Many people are fond of the 2k5 edition with a mode that included the highly missed first person camera, where your players head needed to be on a swivel.
When people think of sports games the first thing they think of is Madden. It still caters to fans around the world and still has players wanting more of the Madden tournaments. If the game birthed by John Madden 25 years ago can continue to improve slightly, the game could be around for 25 more.
