Is Lily Collins freed up schedule good news for ‘Mortal Instruments’

If you haven’t heard the good news, ‘City of Bones’ star Lily Collins dropped out from her previous commitment to star in ‘The Evil Dead’ remake because of “scheduling conflicts.” The rising star, who we first saw in ‘Blind Side’ has been very busy. Collins showed some Clary-like fight in ‘Priest.’ She starred alongside Taylor Lautner in ‘Abduction’ and we’ll next see her as Snow White in ‘Mirror, Mirror.’ The girl who will play Mortal Instruments heroine, Clary Fray has been on a movie-making role. So, what does her dropping out of Sam Raimi’s ‘The Evil Dead’ mean for Mortal Instruments fans?

We haven’t heard too much news lately about ‘City of Bones,’ the first movie in hopefully a successful franchise from Cassandra Clares International bestsellers. Collins’ reason for dropping out of ‘The Evil Dead’ was “scheduling conflicts.” The only thing currently listed on her lineup is ‘City of Bones.’ She recently wrapped production for ‘The English Teacher.’ Could this mean that Mortal Instruments fans are getting closer to more movie news and a movie?

Keep in mind that movie production takes give or take three months for the actors. This could just mean that ‘The Evil Dead’ would conflict for Collins on the back end of production. This does not mean that ‘City of Bones’ is ready to film. Screen Gems has yet to cast the rest of the film with exception for Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower. ‘City of Bones’ has also not been greenlit.

Another possibility is that Lily Collins is considering a new role to tackle. This could also make sense considering the growing range of her roles and her success. I encourage Mortal Instruments fans to be happy with this news but don’t throw a production party for ‘City of Bones’ just yet. Or things might pick up quickly and this column will get very busy. You know that’s my hope!
