So says one fashion designer to the stars.
According to a Jan. 8 Daily Mail report, French designer Roland Mouret admits that when it comes to his clothes, reality television fashionista Kim Kardashian has more selling power than Kate Middleton.
While the Duchess of Cambridge is one of the most popular fashion icons of our time and has what some have dubbed the “Kate effect,” it appears the “Kim effect” may be even stronger.
“You don’t see hundreds of women running around looking like her [Kate Middleton],” Mouret said. “To be honest, we’re more likely to get orders on a dress that Kim Kardashian’s worn,” he told The Telegraph.
Mouret understands, however, that while Kardashian may sell more of his clothes, it could be based on nothing more than her media accessibility. “He attributes this to the fact that the Duchess has no interested in drawing in the attention of the media, unlike Kim Kardashian who lets the media follow her life on a daily basis, reports the publication.
Speaking of Middleton’s fashion, Mouret said, “She’s highly attuned to those details that will provoke a tabloid frenzy and above all, she does not want a tabloid frenzy. She doesn’t seem to feel the need to dress sexily to woo the world. She’s dressing for William and herself.”
There is enough time to test out Mouret's theory over the next few months. Both women are pregnant and will both be joining the chic maternity fashion circuit very soon. We will see who sells more maternity clothes.
