Speculation is whirling as it appears that North Korea's First Lady has given birth. Ri Sol-ju was photographed at a New Year's Day ceremony with a very slim fitting top bearing no signs of a pregnancy that did just 11 days prior. There are also reports that the song "When A Child Is Born" was sung at an official performance over the holiday season.
South Korea sources claim that the Kim Jung-un and his wife, who were married in 2009, already have one child but have yet to produce any definitive proof. It is rare for North Korea to focus so heavily on its First Lady as the countries patriarchal society often overlooks the importance of women in public. This trend, however, appears to be changing.
North Korea could also be waiting for the proper to time to unveil the child as the country has a penchant for creating supernatural birth stories of their future leaders. The late Kim Jong-il was known to have been born in Siberia, but North Korean legend claims that he was born in North Korea and that his birth caused the seasons to change and that a star was illuminated in the sky in honor of the future leader.
