Is Justin Bieber dead? RIP Justin Bieber death hoax tops Twitter trends

RIP Justin Bieber is a top Twitter trend (#RIPJustin Bieber) again on Sunday, January 16. The teen pop star is again part of the Internet celebrity death hoax rumor mill and the rumors are not limited to just Twitter.

YouTube is flooded with RIP Justin Bieber videos. Facebook groups that state bogus information such as  "Justin Bieber has died following a gunshot wound sustained during a late night altercation in west Manhattan" are being created.

Internet rumors aren't new for the 16-year-old pop star. Internet bloggers, message board posters, YouTube videos and Facebook groups are constantly pranking Bieber, forcing his name to the top of the Twitter and Google trends. "Justin Bieber Syphilis", hacked YouTube videos that redirect users to adult websites, and car accident rumors are just some of the long list of hoaxes that focus on this young celebrity.

However, it's not just non-Bieber fans who start rumors. In November, a Beyonce divorce rumor was prompted by some Justin Bieber Twitter groupies, forcing the hashtag #beyoncegotdivorced to dominate the trends. The rumor began when Justin Bieber tweeted to his massive amount of fans that he cut off his in-the-eyes hair for his new girlfriend. Some of his fans, namely a popular Twitter account @BieberTeamNY (with over 57,000 followers) decided to prank back and suggest that Beyonce was leaving her marriage for Bieber.

Justin Bieber is not dead. He just joins the ranks of Adam Sandler, Miley Cyrus, Bill Cosby, George Clooney, Jeff Goldblum and many others who have been caught up in the web death rumor mill.
