Twitter is buzzing with rumors that Joan Rivers is dead after she reportedly stopped breathing during surgery on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014. The most recent reports from TMZ indicate that Rivers is still alive. She is said to be "clinging to life" after being rushed to a New York hospital after she stopped breathing during an outpatient surgical procedure.

The comedian, 81, was reportedly undergoing surgery on her vocal chords when 911 was notified that she stopped breathing. At approximately 9:39 a.m., a caller told 911, "We have somebody in either cardiac or respiratory arrest." Ambulances raced to Yorkville Endoscopy and took Rivers to Mount Sinai hospital in New York.

The New York Post reports police have confirmed that Rivers was transported from Yorkville Endoscopy in New York City to Mount Sinai hospital. Rivers' daughter, Melissa rushed to the hospital to be with her mother on Thursday morning.

There is still no confirmation from Rivers' reps about her condition. The most recent reports from late Thursday morning still indicate that the star of the E! show "Fashion Police" is still in critical condition.
