He consciously “uncoupled” from wife Gwyneth Paltrow earlier this year, but is Chris Martin now coupling up with Jennifer Lawrence? On Friday, E! News revealed that the 37-year-old Coldplay frontman is currently dating the 24-year-old Oscar winning actress.
Lawrence, who recently split with her “X Men: Days of Future Past” co-star Nicholas Hoult, reportedly got a shout-out from Martin during Coldplay’s recent concert in New York City. The actress was seated with some friends in a VIP booth overlooking the stage. Lawrence has long been a Coldplay superfan and once remarked that Martin was “hot.”
Us Weekly reported that the Coldplay frontman also appeared to blow a kiss in the Oscar winner's direction. The stars were also spotted getting flirty together at the band’s after-party bash at London’s Royal Albert Hall last month, and sources told E! they have casually been seeing each other since June but were keeping things on the down low.
An insider told the New York Post’s Page Six that things “really heated up” when Lawrence spent a lot of time with Martin while they were both in New York last week. The source added that “Chris could be the reason why” Lawrence ultimately ended her on-off relationship with Hoult.
Earlier this year, the “Silver Linings Playbook” star talked to Marie Claire about what she looks for in a man: "Humor and intelligence are key,” she said. “Looks fade very quickly. I love a unique mind. Somebody who's his own person."
At the time she was dating her British beau Hoult, and she said they had a mutual understanding to “ignore each other” when they were busy, even promising not to get mad when he other didn’t text back or call right away. She also said that their long distance relationship had its perks.
"We're so young that it would almost be like if we lived in the same city, what would happen? We'd be living together," she said. "At least this way he's in the same boat as I am: We can both go out and have our own lives and know that we have each other."
Chris Martin told BBC Radio 1 that he went through a transformation after his high profile split from Paltrow, and he said he had a realization about growing up while working on his band’s album “Ghost Story.”
"What changed for me was, I didn't want to go through life being scared of it, being scared of love, being scared of rejection, being scared of failure," the rocker said. "Up to a certain point in my life, I wasn't completely vulnerable and it caused some problems. If you don't let love in, then you can't really give it back.”
Martin’s ex-wife is rumored to be dating “Glee” co-creator Brad Falchuk. The exes have two kids together, Apple and Moses.
