Is It Really Beneficial?

I have a very close female friend. We all need those types of friends who can help us put everything back into perspective. We began to discuss the word "transparency." I realized that transparency is only beneficial when the other party is transparent as well. If you are transparent with someone who is not transparent with you then you have just allowed someone to have the opportunity to be in control of the situation.

My friend encouraged me to read the book Art of Seduction by Robert Greene. In the past I have been encouraged to read The Art of War by Sun Tzu. I'm generally against these types of books because in my opinion they promote having control and dominance over people. I'm all about doing things the ethical way. I'm strongly against taking destiny in my own hands. Meaning if I do A,B,C, then D,E, F will happen. I truly believe that what is meant to be will be. However, reality is that we don't live in an ethical world. For this reason this literature is important in understanding how people rise to power. This type of literature also helps us understand and analyze the different personalities that we will encounter. Essentially we save ourselves by knowing and understanding the angles that people come from.

I will get back to the term transparency. People come into our lives for all types of reasons. Reality is that intimacy doesn't just require open and honest dialogue. You are intimate with a person the minute you let them into your home. To let someone into your home which is your personal haven means that you trust them. If a person comes to your home the question becomes what are they bringing? More importantly what are they taking? Sometimes people come around to get information. I have said in the past that we must let time and our discernment reveal to us the authenticity of people. The world is full of people projecting facades. If you are doing all of the talking then the person you are communicating with is motive based.

The next time you encounter that inquisitive personality respond tactfully. You have to be very mindful of people who ask you personal questions without knowing your personally. Information is truly powerful. The saying those with information will control those without it is truly profound. I was once an individual who believed that to not be transparent was to be fake. Assess if it is beneficial for you to be transparent.
