Is Gina Carano's UFC return part of an elaborate April Fools' Day joke?

According to a March 7 report from MMA Junkie, UFC President Dana White says he would give Gina Carano a fight in the UFC if she wanted to return to active MMA competition.

In fact, White says Carano is still under contract with Zuffa.

“Guys, I have no idea,” he told MMAjunkie on Friday following UFC Fight Night 37′s weigh-ins. “I have literally avoided every conversation about this since Joe Rogan went on the radio show and speculation was Gina Carano.”

White went on to say that UFC color commentator ruined his week by hinting that Rousey's next opponent would be a real shocker.

[Rogan] blew my whole week with that interview. There’s nothing done as far as her next opponent. Joe doesn’t just go out and start making s–t up, but he never said Gina Carano was coming to the UFC. He never said that.

White could have flat out denied that Carano was heading to the UFC, but he did not officially shoot down the rumors.

Additionally, White gave Carano a follow on Twitter. That caused even more speculation that Carano was heading to the UFC.

“If she wanted to fight in the UFC, of course,” White said. “If Gina Carano wanted to fight in the UFC, we would definitely do it.”

White also said that Cat Zingano might not be ready for a fight against Rousey because he isn't sure where she's at mentally.

“Cat Zingano has gone kind of radio silent on me,” he said. “She’s been through a lot of stuff, so I don’t know where she’s at or what she’s thinking. So no big announcements yet.”

Analysis: April Fools' Day is just 25 days away, so it's clear White and Rogan are just having some fun with UFC fans by playing a little prank on them.

Carano couldn't make 135 pounds even in her prime, so there's no way she would be able to make bantamweight five years since her last fight.

Carano isn't returning any time soon. She's a full-time actress, no longer an MMA fighter. UFC fans can basically forget about it.

Carano's return to the UFC is nothing more than an April Fools' Day joke.
