Is Feminism Dead?

See also

The idea that Feminism is dead for me has both reasons that it is and reasons that it isn’t in my mind. I think that there are a few different mentalities when it comes to feminism and this is how I will determine the standings of feminism in today’s world. There are hundreds of different definitions of feminism today but I will focus on two that I think are the biggest and encompass most of the other ones. The first one is the belief that men and women have equal rights and opportunities, and the second is organized activity on behalf of women’s rights and interests. The key word that we have here in these two definitions is interests.
Now the first one I believe is the mentality that women such as Susan B. Anthony had. The fights that they fought were ones of women’s suffrage, gender equality among races, and rights in the workplace. These are rights that should be open to all and not just left to men. Also, things like fighting against sexual harassment and gender discrimination in the workplace are essential tenets of feminism that should be fought for and that lie under the first definition.
This all changes when feminism degenerates into the mentality that the sexual revolution promotes. One woman that we have to deal with here is Margaret Sanger and the mentality that she promoted. She formed the birth control league which eventually evolved into the Planned Parenthood that we have today. On the outside, they fought for sexual equality for women but one must really look deeply to discover what this was all about. Sanger knew that she could use birth control and the abortion techniques and label them as equality makers but behind the scenes, promote an ideal of eugenics and evil. Sanger aligned herself with people who promoted Maltusian Eugenics which espoused racial supremacy and purity especially of the “Aryan” race and she used birth control and sterilization techniques to stop women of color from having children because she deemed them as lesser humans.
She also wanted to restrict the rights of women to be able to have children at their will: “The Purpose of the American Baby Code shall be to provide for a better distribution of babies… and to protect society against the propagation and increase of the unfit. No woman shall have the legal right to bear a child, and no man shall have the right to become a father, without a permit. No permit for parenthood shall be valid for more than one birth.” We saw how the one child policy destroyed the rights of women in China with oppression, forced abortions, and even death and the founder of the taxpayer funded Planned Parenthood promoted the same thing.
The Planned Parenthood of today may not be promoting a mentality of racism, but 78% percent of their clinics are located in minority communities and even though black people only make up 12% of the population, they account for 35% of the abortions in America. And also, abortion accounts for more black deaths than any other cause in America according to the CDC. This is not something that we should be promoting, and yet, this is called a “reproductive right” and a win for feminism.
Another thing that is really hurting the good name of feminism is the push for what they call, “sexual equality.” There is nothing good about the sexual promiscuity that is promoted by today's culture and in fact, it is actually hurting women much more than is said out loud. This kind of promoted lifestyle can lead to low self-esteem and confusion and also has shown to be empowering for men, promoting oppression for women, and a happiness killer for women also.
We need to go back to the traditional viewpoint of feminism that promotes equality and not interests. The day that we put our faith behind the viewpoints of people that support racism, oppression, and sexual promiscuity is the day that the statement that “feminism is dead” becomes true.
