Conservative voters have taken their toys and "gone home" as far as Facebook is concerned, and their sights are set on a less liberal social network. The Tea Party Community is expected to launch on Saturday, but there is no telling how popular it will be. If it's at all as popular as the conservative voting platforms then it won't likely be going public like Facebook.
Addicting Info reports that nearly 50,000 members have flocked to the Tea Party Community, but it's not known if many of these new members are secret liberals hellbent on infiltrating what is sure to be the least intellectually diverse place on the internet. On Feb. 02, 2013, Addicting Info referred to this new social network as Facebook 2.Duh and that's probably the best analogy one could use.
The group of conservatives responsible for this tea party social network say that the community was created because they were tired of the censorship and "liberal bullying" on Facebook. It's undeniable that there are likely some far left individuals who take an overzealous stance in their online debates. With it being Facebook it's easy to forget that online doesn't always mean anonymous. However, the bullying appears to be most violent in rhetoric on the side of conservatives when you look at some of the more popular politically-oriented Facebook communities. As you can see by the slideshow accompanying this report, some of the comments being made about liberals and liberal politicians are horrifying.
On an extremely popular anti-Obama Facebook community one member said the following:
"I hope Obama's plane goes down, fired upon by his own Muslim Brotherhood."
Another member of the same community goes as far as to accusing the POTUS of eating human flesh, because of a report linking Islam to ancient forms of cannibalism. And that's just the beginning of some of the horrific things said by conservatives on Facebook. In fact, the Fox News Facebook page came under scrutiny last year when several members of the page's community ran amok and shared a staggering amount of death threats and horrifying insults against atheists.
So what is this about "liberal bullying" on Facebook? It seems as though these particular conservatives are just experiencing sour grapes to the point of wanting to leave Facebook after seeing a few liberal-centric posts in their streams. Everyone has the choice to do whatever he or she wants online with social networks, so if these people want their own special corner of the internet let them have it. But it just seems infantile and desperate and a bit antisocial -- not to mention indicative of their line of thinking. Instead of working together and being a society, they'd rather isolate and surround themselves with only their prescribed ideals. That's something worth pitying.
So do you think the conservatives who formed The Tea Party Community are right and Facebook is a place for liberal bullying? Or are they just a bunch of sore losers?
