Is eyelash jewelry going to take over the nail art world? (Photos)

If the nail trend has got you in a frenzy and you're needing to try something new, how about some eyelash jewelry? Never heard of it? That's ok because it's a new trend that's sweeping the Etsy world and with all the attention its been receiving, probably soon the world.

Totally different than the traditional fake eyelashes or even PAPERSELF eyelashes that are currently the world’s first and leading brand and maker of paper eyelashes, these eyelashes are handmade. Created by Natalie Russo a DIYer on Etsy, these eyelashes are complex and intricate, totally custom made and the best part of all...rewearable. Each piece of art is tailored especially for the eyelid and is made of beads, wire, feathers, and tiny clay charms. Each pair of eyelashes is also made with a theme in mind, whether it be more suited for a raver look or an extravagant burlesque each set is also one of a kind and unique.

According to Russo, her inspiration comes from nail art (think Fimo and Kawaii nails) and Japanese decora fashion (a Japanese street fashion style that combines the Lolita look with inspirations from the 80s such as bright colors as well as over the top accessories like rhinestones, bows lace etc..). Basically she goes as over the top she can possibly go.

At the ripe old age of 21, Natalie Russo has already been in business for three years and works on her art when she not working at a local deli in Washington. But with the current exposure and explosion surrounding her craft going mainstream may have to be her next step. But according to Russo, in an interview with Fashionista.com

“The one thing stopping me from going “mainstream” is that I still craft each set of eyelash jewelry by hand. My ideal situation would be a team of skilled craftsmen working on my pre-made designs, while I took on custom requests. I don’t see that happening anytime soon, though, so for now I am thrilled to have the personal connections and sense of community I have found on Etsy.”

With everyone already going crazy over smokey eyes and putting such an emphasis on the eye area it shouldn’t be long before Natalie Russo's creativity takes over the nail art trend.

What do you think? Will this eyelash trend take over the nail art world as the new 'it' trend to follow?
