Is Delver of Secrets still dominating your Friday Night Magic scene?

It's the first Friday in February, and you know what that means. Yes ma'am/sir, there is a brand new FNM promo card to be awarded all over Knoxville tonight! This month the lucky winners will receive a foil and alternate artwork Despise. This is also the first night that the newest set, Dark Ascension, will be tournament legal. Will this be yet another Friday night dominated by Delver of Secrets and Seachrome Coast? Or will there be a few of the lucky first owners of Sorin, Lord of Innistrad showcasing their newfound toys? Or better yet, is this another time when a simple red deck with lots of burn spells and efficient creatures bash through for the win? One thing is certain, this is an exciting night for the area. We will get to see what will be happening with all the new cards firsthand and get to see who was right; the general perception of the Knoxville crowd, that the set has little to offer what Innistrad brought us, or the people that say there will be a lot of diamonds in the rough that cannot be seen until the set gets integrated into current decks.

The current trend has been leaning towards the blue and white combination of Delver of Secrets and Geist of Saint Traft with counter magic and equipment to ride to victory. This is a tough battle to win if you are constantly facing this round after round. I recently borrowed a pretty stock version of a red deck from fellow gamers Dale and Ashley and had to face two similar decks that pack these, as well as a very good version of Wolf Run. I had to fight tooth and nail to win but I did find out that with the right balance of speed, damage, control and a little luck it can be victorious as well.

They are also in Oak Ridge, the Tri-Cities, Oneida, and the Morristown and Maryville mall locations for those just outside of Knoxville.
