NaturalMotion’s CSR Racing Generates Over $12M in Revenue per Month

Since launching on June 28th 2012, CSR Racing quickly became a smash hit with #1 Top Grossing App positions all around the world. It was the only game shown onstage at Apple’s 2012 WWDC keynote, and sells in-game licensed cars sell at a daily rate three times faster than the total real-world auto industry.

“Our vision from the outset has been to focus on making games that people want to play – and to go viral through quality. Our combination of deep free-to-play monetization insights with polished gameplay and high-end 3D graphics generates margins impossible for the old type of 2D resource management games, especially those who have to aggressively spend to buy players.” said NaturalMotion CEO Torsten Reil.

In a deal set to secure the development team behind CSR Racing, NaturalMotion has also acquired Boss Alien, the Brighton, UK-based studio founded by former Disney Black Rock executives Jason Avent and Tim Swan.

“We have been working with Jason and Tim since the beginning of Boss Alien and we are thrilled to expand our exclusive collaboration with this acquisition,” said Torsten Reil, CEO of NaturalMotion. “CSR Racing is just one of the exciting properties we are working on together, and its success is testament to the power of combining the best console development talent with NaturalMotion’s deep free-to-play game design insights.”

The Boss Alien acquisition deal will secure the development team that helped create CSR Racing and set the foundation for aggressive studio growth in Brighton, already a well-known base for exceptional creative talent in the United Kingdom.

“The entire Boss Alien team is excited to be joining NaturalMotion. We share the vision of creating amazing games that reach millions of people,” said Jason Avent, CEO of Boss Alien. “We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved together with CSR Racing, and now we’re focused on growing our studio and creating more hit games. We want developers with exceptional talent to come on board and join our world-class team.”

Boss Alien’s Brighton office will be NaturalMotion’s forth studio location, joining Oxford, London and San Francisco. Those interested in working with NaturalMotion or Boss Alien can apply at or
