The recent weeks of “General Hospital” have left fans of Luke Spencer on the edge of their seats. He was almost dead before receiving the cure Robin conjured up in the lab on Cassadine Island. Anthony Geary has held a fan base for over 35 years as Luke Spencer on “General Hospital” and he is one half of the famous duo of “Luke and Laura,” who were big in the 1980s. According to a report by Celebrity Dirty Laundry on October 20, Anthony Geary is threatening to leave the show if they don’t pay him what he wants. He is also demanding that if he doesn’t get the money, the character of Luke Spencer be killed off.
Fans of the show know that Anthony Geary lives in Amsterdam for most of the year. He flies back to the States to tape his scenes, and actually only spends about four months in total taping. Currently it is reported that he earns somewhere around $1.5 million a year to play Luke Spencer. That is an incredibly high amount for a daytime soap actor, especially since soaps are a dying breed.
As of now there is nothing set in stone about Anthony Geary’s plans for “General Hospital.” He has several taped episodes where he is airing as Luke Spencer, especially since he just received the cure to the poisoning. Fans will be disappointed if Luke Spencer is killed off, but it is only fitting because no one will ever be able to fill the role of Luke Spencer like Anthony Geary.
