Michelle spoke with Celebrity Baby Scoop recently and talked about their decision to have another child and how though they are trying right now they are not pregnant, yet.
Michelle and Jim Bob recently celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary and Michelle spoke with Scoop about their celebration, their love of being parents and grandparents, and how another baby would make them very happy.
Celebrity baby Scoop asked Michelle about having another child and how if she felt that after having so many children affected her body;
CBS: Are you hoping to become pregnant with a 20th child? Or maybe you have a special announcement to share with us?
MD: “I would hope, but we are not expecting right now. I would be so grateful if the Lord blessed us with another one. We’re trying at this point and we shall see if that is a possibility. If not, we are so thankful and grateful for the ones that God has given us so far. We are also definitely enjoying our grandbabies! They are so precious!”
CBS: Do you ever feel like your multiple pregnancies have worn-down your body? Additionally, do you ever feel like they have taken a toll on your mind and spirit?
MD: “I feel great. I think that exercising and eating right definitely makes a difference. My health is good and I am grateful for that. I think it could be different; every person struggles with different things, but I am so grateful that my health is good and I am able to enjoy running and chasing my little ones around at this point in my life.
Michelle had many complications with her 19th pregnancy that caused her to deliver Josie very early at 25 weeks and almost lose her own life, and after that she ended up losing their 20th child to a miscarriage.
Many people feel that Michelle should not have any more children because of the risks associated with age and the fact that her body has been through so much with having 19 children.
Michelle discussed that when talking with CBS about people's thoughts on the fact that she wanted more;
CBS: What do you say to the critics who think you should stop getting pregnant? What are your thoughts on the planet’s overpopulation crisis? Do you feel you are contributing to that? Why or why not?
MD: “I think I’ve shared that in the past before. We have studied it and I believe that there is a misconception about overpopulation. I think that the whole mindset of overpopulation is really overrated. A few years back, we stated that the whole population of the world could be stood shoulder-to-shoulder in Jacksonville. That may have changed a little bit since we’ve heard that statistic.
Michelle and Jim Bob have also talked about adoption and have decided that if God does not give them another baby naturally, they would love to adopt a child to bring into their big, loving family;
"We're praying about if the Lord would want us to adopt. We have set up our home to be designed for taking care of children. We love children, and we really believe every child is a special gift from God."
Although they are very content with their own kids and their three grandchildren by oldest son Josh;
"I would be so grateful if the Lord blessed us with another one. We're trying at this point and we shall see if that is a possibility. If not, we are so thankful and grateful for the ones that God has given us so far. We are also definitely enjoying our grandbabies! They are so precious!"
Michelle and Jim Bob's children range in age from 25 years to 2 and their three grandchildren range in age from 4 years to 4 months.
Other children could join the Duggar family as well considering that Josh and wife Anna also want more children and many of the other Duggar kids are at the age of courting.
Daughter Jessa is now courting a young man named Ben and when a Duggar goes through a courting phase that usually means that mariage is the next step.
Regardless of if or when Michelle and Jim Bob do have another baby that would give them 20 kids and counting, Michelle feels that it is up to them and God and that what others feel about them having more and overpopulating the world is fine, because everyone has their own thoughts and beliefs one everything anyway;
"I think that there is this ideology that goes behind overpopulation that I don't really agree with, t's a different perspective and that's where people have their different ideas, and that's okay. That's what makes the world go around; there are many different ideas and different perspectives about certain topics."
Jim Bob, Michelle and their always growing family can be seen on TLC, Tuesday nights on "19 Kids and Counting"
