Is Alex Pettyfer playing coy over 'The Hunger Games' & other pending projects?

Just hours ago, reports came out that 20-year-old actor Alex Pettyfer had talked to The Hunger Games director Gary Ross about the possibility of playing Peeta in the upcoming movie adaptation.

But is Pettyfer playing coy with fans?

The actor is quickly becoming a very big thing in the Hollywood scene. He's starring in the upcoming sci-fi adaptation of I Am Number Four and later this year, he's also starring in Beastly. Additionally, his name is being tossed around for a variety of potential upcoming projects: City of Bones (based on Cassandra Clare's book), The Seventh Son (with Jeff Bridges) and now, The Hunger Games.

Just as news of his meeting with Ross was hitting the web, NextMovie was putting together their latest interview with Pettyfer, in which they grilled him about The Hunger Games.

“I’ve read the books,” he told Next Movie. “I just didn’t know if it was a big thing. Is it bigger than ‘Mortal Instruments?’”

Next Movie says Pettyfer then asked them to rehash the plot of the entire series, leaving them wondering if he's ever even looked at a copy of The Hunger Games (nonetheless actually read them). All this back and forth has the folks at Next Movie -- and us -- wondering if Pettyfer isn't just playing hard to get.

I don't blame him weighing his options! DUDE I would! That's a lot of money being thrown at him!
And considering the question about Hunger Games being bigger than The Mortal Instruments? Well in my opinion they are probably not. I honestly, just heard of The Hunger Games in the last six months, and I've bought the book and am eager to read it!
    He would do Peeta justice!
But I think he would Jace better!
This other movie? Not so much, those books sounds dull to me. But getting to star with Jeff Bridges would be extra points with me! So I don't blame him considering that role either!
I respect his decisons on whichever. He's a god guy and he's the only one to decide on which he can handle better.

They are comparable. They will both do very well on the big screen!
I think if Alex really read Hunger Games, he'd question whether he was the right actor to play the role. Annyyywayyyyyy, i can't wait to see him in "i am number four". He's quite a sight! Ahhhhh!
