IRS adds blog to Tumblr

The Internal Revenue Service has added a tax-help blog to Tumblr.com, the agency said on Feb. 21.

"The IRS plans to use Tumblr to help share information about important programs to help taxpayers, such as late tax law changes, the Earned Income Tax Credit and Free File," according to a department statement. "The Tumbler site also makes it easy for partner groups and others to share tax information from the IRS."

Located at http://internalrevenueservice.tumblr.com/, the blog largely points readers to features on the regular IRS site.

Among the latest features on its Tumblr site is a link to the IRS Interactive Tax Assistant, described as a "self-service online tool to ask IRS questions about tax credits, tax deductions and more."

Also on Tumblr are links to information about Free File, direct deposit of income tax refunds, tips on finding a licensed tax preparer, tax breaks for parents, education credits and deductions and identity theft.
