If your neighborhood is anything like mine, the artisan bakeries are long gone. And face it -- who has the time to bake goodies these days? Okay, I sometimes bake cookies around the holidays for people to whom I should really get skywriting messages for. But really, I'm not in to the measuring, the sifting, the mixing, the clean up.
But that doesn't mean I don't desire the tasty! Thankfully, there's the magic of Maine's Little Magic Bake Shop. I was glad to be hosted to experience it. And, luckily for all of us, they have a shop on Etsy.
Health-conscious folks will appreciate the rich, not-too-sweet and satisfying flavor of their gluten-free, dairy-free cranberry granola muffins and cookies. They've got texture, but are still tender.
Their chocolate chip scones are plenty chocolate-y, perfect for afternoon tea. After all, the Duchess of Bedford invented afternoon tea as a treat-meal for the afternoon munchies. These scones would be great with a dab of clotted cream, but they don't need jam.
In the category of "Where have these been all my life?" are their Bacon, Cheddar, Scallion scones. Savory! That's always the flavor direction that's turned me on. They've got big hunks of goodies and are just over the top heated for a couple minutes, spread with butter.
