Rating 3 out of 5.

There is a scene after the credits of the film.

Iron Man 2 takes place after the first installment which builds off of certain story elements that have been established. This film generated a lot of buzz with the recasting of "Rhodey" who is now played by Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard and is based off the Marvel comic book series.

In this film Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) struggles with a number of issues, his health is failing due to an issue with the device keeping him alive. He must also deal with members of the government who demands he hand over the "Iron Man" weapon, while keeping a corporate rival (Justin Hammer played by Sam Rockwell) at bay and a new enemy (Ivan Vanko played by Mickey Rourke) emerges with Stark's technology.

Of course Downey is amazing as Stark. Gwyneth Paltrow continues to perform a great role as Pepper Potts and while Rockwell does a good job, it is Rourke who steals the scenes they share. Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson join the cast and both their performances are on par with Paltrow, with Jackson doing some classic Samuel L. Jackson deliveries. It would have been nice to see Howard as Rhodey again since he seemed to have a good bearing of the role in the first one. Cheadle did not seem comfortable in the role and his performance seemed a little flat.

The film suffers from an inconsistency in pacing. There are a lot of elements going on in the story and the film does a bad job spending time developing the points that are not that interesting compared to other points they should have spent more time developing. There are also a number of slow moments in the film that take away a lot of the film's momentum.

Kids are sure to like the film, comic book fans will struggle with trying to like it but most of the film-going-public will probably be expecting something more along the lines of the first film. Sadly Iron Man 2 is less like the first film and more like a typical comic book film, just with lots of big name actors.
