Iron Maiden’s Eddie had joined the ranks of the HeroClix game. HeroClix is a collectible miniatures game that specializes in superheroes from comic books, such as characters from Marvel and DC Comics. The game uses a Clix system that originated in the game Mage Knight.
Eddie (or Ed the Head) is the longstanding mascot of Britain’s Iron Maiden, which helped originate the sound known as the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Eddie has appeared in numerous incarnations throughout the years on all the band’s CDs, as well as their t-shirts and other merchandise. There have even been statues of Eddie created and sold on the market. Artist Derek Riggs was the first to illustrate Eddie. Riggs drew Eddie from 1980 to 1992. Since that time, other artists have taken a turn at illustrating “The Head.”
The Eddie figures for HeroClix feature all-new dial designs that showcase the figure’s many custom powers. Eddie versions for these figures include designs showcased on songs such as “The Trooper,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Somewhere in Time,” as well as albums such as Piece of Mind and Killers.
Gamers will enjoy the Eddie figures, principally if they are leading legions of the undead into battle. However, these figures are also essential to metalheads, as well as hardcore fans of Iron Maiden. Up the irons!
