Iron Maiden going back in time in return to AT&T Center on Aug. 15

Iron Maiden have announced within the past hour that they are embarking on another North American tour, and that includes San Antonio.

Iron Maiden will return to the AT&T Center on Wed., Aug. 15, while winding down a revisiting of its "Maiden England" world tour. Tickets in most venues go on sale March 2 or 3, but more specifics are TBD. Coheed and Cambria will be the support act for all shows beginning July 24 in Winnipeg through the tour's end Aug. 18 in Houston, including the San Antonio stop. Alice Cooper is the support act starting with the tour kickoff June 21 in Charlotte, N.C. Complete dates can be found here. The band has announced that more dates will be coming.

Iron Maiden sold out its previous San Antonio performance June 12, 2010, also at the AT&T Center, when Dream Theater opened. That show was the second of the tour after Iron Maiden kicked off in Dallas. This time, San Antonio, Dallas and Houston are the final three stops of the dates that have been announced thus far.

The 2010 show's setlist featured 90 percent songs that span Maiden's career from 2000-10. Classic favorites such as "The Trooper" and "Run to the Hills" were surprisingly omitted. Thus, fans of the earlier material dating back to Maiden's 1980 debut album will find this concert more to their liking, according to a statement by lead singer Bruce Dickinson:

“We have great fun playing the History of Maiden Tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalogue," Dickinson says. "It’s always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before, and of course we know our longstanding fans will enjoy seeing the original Seventh Son Tour revisited -- with many other surprises! Our intention is to play about two-thirds of the original track list of Maiden England, including some songs we have not played live in a very, very long time, plus other favourites we just know the fans are going to want to hear! We always try to give our fans a great show musically, but we have always tried to make it as entertaining and memorable an experience as we can visually. And we all feel this show is going to do that splendidly! We can't wait to get started in Charlotte."

The original "Maiden England" VHS track listing from their DVD taken from the "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" tour in 1988 was: Moonchild, The Evil That Men Do, The Prisoner, Still Life, Die With Your Boots On, Infinite Dreams, Killers, Can I Play With Madness, Heaven Can Wait, Wasted Years, The Clairvoyant, Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son, The Number Of The Beast, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Iron Maiden.

Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood says that while there will be presale tickets available, there will not be VIP offerings because, "We consider all our fans to be VIPs." Smallwood's complete statement regarding ticket packages and availability can be read here.

To tide fans over before the summer trek, Iron Maiden is set to release a CD/DVD package entitled "En Vivo" on March 27. It's a live performance from the most recent "The Final Frontier" tour in front of 50,000 fans in Santiago, Chile.
