Throughout their history the Israelis have witnessed many miracles God has performed on their behalf. During ancient times, when Israel was held captive in Egypt, he worked the miracle of the ten plagues (Exodus 7-12).

God used the ten plagues to convince Pharaoh to release the Israelis from slavery in Egypt. Once they left, Pharaoh changed his mind and decided to bring them back to Egypt and into bondage.

It was during this time that God parted the Red Sea and the Israelis crossed over to the other side on dry land escaping the grasp of Pharaoh.

When the army of Pharaoh tried to follow the Israelis, Moses raised his staff and the Red Sea swallowed the Egyptian army (Exodus 14). These are only two of the miracles that happened in the Old Testament (to see a more comprehensive list click here).

God's miracles aren't something that is just displayed in the annals of ancient history though; they can and do still happen. In 2005, Michael Greenspan a seasoned journalist embarked on a fascinating journey exploring the question: why has Israel survived against all the odds?

"Against All Odds: In Search of a Miracle" was a 13 part dramatic television series that documented numerous supernatural phenomena taking place in Israel. The series interviews eyewitnesses and gives commentary from high-ranking government officials, generals, soldiers and foreign leaders about what birthed and preserved modern-day Israel.

Miracles on Israel's behalf continue to happen. On July 29, Israel Today reports an article that has since been republished on WND's website, about one miracle in particular. The article claims divine intervention took place during the on-going conflict between Israel and Hamas.

An operator of Iron Dome, which is the missile-defense system Israel uses, says he personally witnessed "the hand of God" divert a rocket fired from Gaza into the sea. Three times the Iron Dome failed to intercept the rocket that was headed toward Tel Aviv. The commander talked about that incident and said:

A missile was fired from Gaza. Iron Dome precisely calculated [its trajectory]. We know where these missiles are going to land down to a radius of 200 meters. This particular missile was going to hit either the Azrieli Towers, the Kirya (Israel’s equivalent of the Pentagon) or [a central Tel Aviv railway station]. Hundreds could have died.

An interceptor was fired twice but each time they missed. The operator was in shock and knew there was only about four seconds until the missile from Gaza landed. Emergency services were notified and were ready to converge on the location where the missile was going to land. They were told to be ready for a "mass-casualty incident."

The operator recalled what happened next: “Suddenly, Iron Dome (which calculates wind speeds, among other things) shows a major wind coming from the east, a strong wind that sends the missile into the sea. We were all stunned. I stood up and shouted, there is a God! I witnessed this miracle with my own eyes. It was not told or reported to me. I saw the hand of God send that missile into the sea."

A July 18 edition of the Jewish Telegraph titled: "Their God changes the path of our rockets in mid-air, said a terrorist" would seem to back-up the commander's account. "As one of the terrorists from Gaza was reported to say, when asked, why they couldn't aim their rockets more effectively: 'We do aim them, but their God changes their path in mid-air.'"

Isn't that just like God? When our situation looks grim and there seems to be no way out he comes through. What do you believe, do miracles still happen? Leave a comment below and let us know what you think, thank you.
