Exciting action on the undercards of tonight's "Iron Boy IV" card from Phoenix. The event is being presented by Iron Boy Promotions in association with Top Rank Boxing, and televised live from the Celebrity Theatre on Unimas' Solo Boxeo Tecate.
In the first bout of the evening, Brian Mendoza won by knockout, sending Jesus Lopez to the canvas at 1:49 of round one. The bout was scheduled as a four round fight in the welterweight division. Lopez was dropped twice, floored by a brutal shot by Mendoza. A hard right by by Mendoza would drop Lopez for good.
Keenan Carbajal won his super featherweight bout with a knockout win over Edgar Pinedo. The stoppage was :26 of round one.
Alexis Zazueta, managed by Cameron Dunkin, had a good showing in his bout, winning by TKO in round one over Luis Josue Almendarez. Zazueta dropped Almendarez early before the final knock down.
Trevor McCumby stunned Michael Gbenga in round three with a brutal left, but Gbenga fought his way out. McCumby had success using his left. It would come in handy in round five as McCumby would drop Gbenga for a count. Gbenga survived the round and go the distance. In the end, McCumby wins by decision on the cards 60-53.
Francisco De Vaca, in a four round bout against Ernesto Guerrero had little trouble, winning his bout by decision, all judges scored the bout 60-54.
The televised portion of the evening features four exciting bouts. Oscar Valdez will battle Juan Ruiz in an eight round featherweight bout. Valdez, Top Rank's new sensation has been turning heads with his amazing boxing skills.
In a super middleweight bout, Joey Ruelas will do battle with Izaak Cardona in a scheduled six round bout. The main event of the evening will feature Jose Benavidez Jr. taking on Henry Auraad in a scheduled eight round bout, the winner will walk away with the NABF Welterweight Junior Title.
