Irish Whisper Productions VIP Launch Party at South Shore Music Hall

I must have been eight or nine. We were coming home from school and walking up Quincy Ave. Someone pointed out the house where Tony DeMarco the boxing champ lived. Tentatively, we knocked on the door to ask for autographs and a man in a sport coat and tie answered the door. I don’t remember if we expected him to be in gloves and trunks. He was cordial and gave each of us a card with his picture.

He had quite a career as a slugger who gave it everything. Tony is a Boston legend and you can meet him. The Champ will be at the launch party for Irish Whisper Productions. His attendance is appropriate, as Irish Whisper will be shortly heading out to start filming a boxing movie, Crossing Paths.

The April 7th evening for Irish Whisper Productions is “locked.” Adriano and his team have a lot to celebrate and they would like their Bay State film community friends to do it with them. The South Shore Music Hall is at 58 Ross Way, just off Hancock Street in Quincy. Door open at 7:00 p.m.

The launch party is also a charity event. A fifty/fifty raffle will be held to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital, The Italian Home for Children and Autism Awareness. Local celebs donating prizes include Dropkick Murphy’s Scruffy. Scruffy is giving autographed Zildjian cymbals as well as drumsticks.

Another boxing hero, Mickey Ward, will provide four pairs of signed boxing gloves. From the Deep South, Rhode Island that is, father and son boxers, the Manfredos, will also send gloves. Of course, Tony will have a set as well.

The Champ is not going to be the only one there from the great big world. Up and coming singer/songwriter, Louie Bello, will perform. His video "Faces" is embedded in this article.

Sean Stellato, a North Shore scholar-athlete who made it to Arena Football is coming. Now, as a sports agent, he guides pros through contract negotiations. Is that training for film? It better be as he has a part in Crossing paths.

Partying and having fun can be work. How does one keep an edge? Adriano has that angle covered. A new beverage, Xale, will be premiering as the official beverage of Irish Whisper Productions. Xale is a stress antidote, not a harsh energy drink. It will refresh and can be a mixer. Meet it when you meet Irish Whisper.

If you’re feeling Italiano, the Masciarellis in the old country will be sending some wine. Adriano’s family from Chieti produces Montepulciano, the famous vintage of the Abruzzi region. He will be happy to sign the bottles and make them collectors’ items.

So it’s going to be a big night in local film circles. Already, over a hundred have signed on, almost a who’s who of the Boston indie scene. Meet cast members, including lovely co-star Alex Marguerite. Oh, did we mention the Irish Whisper Promo Girls? Visit the Irish Whisper Productions VIP Launch Party facebook page here.

Moi, I wonder if Tony would remember me? Neither of us has changed all that much.
