Irish Whisper Productions takes Boston to North Carolina

Hot off his success with Irish Whisper, no one expected Adriano Masciarelli to stop making movies. What no one anticipated was a North Carolina venue for the next effort.

The Boston Film Industry Examiner last reported on Adriano’s quest to make his next flick, Crossing Paths and his efforts with Irish Whisper in July of 2012. Things have changed since then. Crossing Paths is moving south.

Instead of a Quincy Gym, the inspirational boxing movie will be made just off the water at Corolla Beach in NC. In this, destiny played a part. His team will be staying at the Irish Whisper House, with14 rooms for a GHQ. The team will get there early in May and shoot through the end of the month. To film a full-length movie in that time frame will be a challenge.

So he’s making an urban boxing film on a southern beach. What’s our man smoking? There is a method to the madness. The local constabulary, The Elizabeth City, North Carolina Police Department had just the building. Their Police Athletic League Center gym has the feel. A vintage 1920s structure with additions in the 40s, it is just the place for the story. The PD is also assisting with that unloved task of obtaining, permissions as well as coordinating with local authorities in the Pasquotank County region.

So where does the story stand? Adriano has bought the rights to John K. Fiore’s script. When last we talked, he was learning boxing at a renowned gym in Quincy, MA., training with a man who has coached champs. So, is our pugilist ready? He’s got a month down south to show us. The physicality of the boxing world is not the big story. Rather, it’s the emotions involved and the movie will be big on dialogue.

The cast we reported on in July has changed a bit. Adriano is starring as well as serving as executive producer. Bobby Kenney will play the role of mentor to Adriano. Local actor, Charlie Flannery, will be going as well. He plays a referee. As a Taunton town officer, working with bureaucracy, maybe that’s a good fit. Ben Heald will direct. New Hampshire lad, Mat Mara, will play Adriano’s brother. One of the producers on Irish Whisper, Alex Marguerite, will play Adriano’s love interest.

So they are going to hang at the beach and make a movie. Most of us might get a little lazy by the waterfront after a cold winter. Still, Adriano knows how to make a film. If you haven’t seen what he can do, you should watch the trailer for Irish Whisper (link here). You will be optimistic about his chances.

Normally, The Boston Film Industry Examiner does not report on movies made outside of New England, but in this case, Signor Masciarelli took the Bay State with him.
