Irish-themed cocktails for your St. Paddy's Day party

Established as a way to recognize the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick's Day was not officially recognized until 1976. Originally a religious holiday, it has now evolved into a celebration of all things green. If you can't make your way to the five-day festival in Dublin and aren't into the local bar scene, invite some friends over for your own St. Patrick's Day party complete with Irish themed cocktails.

If you want your guests to enjoy something other than green-tinted spirits, try these sophisticated Irish cocktails created by Dale DeGroff, author of The Essential Cocktail and The Craft of the Cocktail. Featuring Irish whiskey, your guests will surely be shaking their shamrocks before the end of the evening.

If you just can't get away from the green St. Paddy's theme, try this Green Dublin Apple Martini or the Green Daze as well as a few other great Irish cocktails from our parties of past. Also, check out these great recipes for party foods to pair with your cocktails.
