Irish crochet yarn rose with off-set petals pattern (Photos)

Here is a motif that uses the Irish crochet technique. Rose petal rounds are off-set in the next petal round. This gives the inner petals a beautiful frame of outer petals. Use this rose to jazz up a hat. Here is free HAT PATTERN

Materials" Less than 1/2 ounce 4 ply yarn

Aluminum crochet hook size J/6mm

Size= 4 inches across

Instructions:

Rnd 1: Ch 4, join, ch 1, 10 sc in ring. Join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2: (Ch 3, skip next st, sc in next st) 5 times. Join to base of ch-3.

Rnd 3: Sl st in the first ch 3-loop, ch 1; (sc. 4 dc, sc in the same ch-3 loop), *sl st in next ch-3 loop, ch 1, (sc. 4 dc, sc in the same ch-3 loop) rep from * 3 more times. Join with a sl st to first sc.

Rnd 4: To get hook in position to make off-set chains, ch 2, sl st through by-- inserting hook from back to front positioning hook, in between 2nd and 3rd dc. With hook, reach down and pull up a loop, pull all the way through so that hook is behind work and only one loop is on hook. *Ch 4, insert hook from back to front positioning hook in between 2nd and 3rd dc. sl st through, rep from * 4 more times. Rnd 5: Ch 2,( hd3, 5 trc, hdc in same ch-4 loop,) *sl st in next ch-4 loop, ch 2, (hdc, 5 trc, hdc in the same ch-4 loop) rep from * 3 more times. Join with a sl st at base. Fasten off with a length to sew on hat.
