The family of Kimberly Walker, 28 is battling with Spring Grove Cemetery over their daughter's headstone. Kimberly served in Iraq for 2 tours before being murdered in a Colorado hotel room by her then boyfriend, who has been arrested. The gravestone is in the likeness of Spongebob Squarepants wearing Kimberly's army uniform. Kimberly's sister states that her sister loved Spongebob and that her family even asked for rights from Nickelodeon before having the headstone made. However Spring Grove cemetery had the headstone removed just hours after it was put in place, and they won't put it back. Currently the Walker family are trying to come to a solution, none of which have been agreed on. The Walker family simply wants their daughter's headstone returned. Spring Grove however offered to either put a different one, featuring a smaller Spongebob or simply lie the headstone down after the grave has been changed to fit it.
Many people on social media, such as Facebook have been sharing this story. It seems as if the whole nation agrees that the Spongebob headstone should be returned, as is, to Kimberly's grave. Kimberly's mother states "You've got to make it right. Put SpongeBob back up." The Spongebob headstone and the almost identical one Kimberly's twin sister had made for her own grave when her time comes, costs around $13,000. There are no reports on exactly why the cemetery won't do as the Walker's ask. Spring Grove just keeps stating that putting the grave stones back up as they were, just isn't possible. What do you think? Should Spongebob be put back up, or is the cemetery right to remove it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
