Iraq journalists killed by US soldiers in newly released video

Iraq journalists killed by US soldiers in newly released video. A newly released video shows several men being watched by US Army soldiers in two US Apache helicopters, and later shot to death. The incident takes place on July 12, 2007 in Baghdad. The video shows what appears to be a misunderstanding by US Army soldiers.

In the video shown below, cameras are mistaken for guns and weapons. The soldiers ask for permission to engage because they see weapons, and the permission granted. The men on the ground were attacked and killed by the soldiers in the helicopter. A dozen people were killed and two children were wounded. The two Reuters journalists that were killed were Saeed Chmagh and Namir Noor-Eldeen.

The first video below is from CNN and does not show the shootings, but what led up to it. The second 17-minute video below, shows the entire video from Wikileaks, and please be advised that it is graphic.

The incident was investigated and US Army was not found at fault.

Wikileaks.com found the full video and released it, and the Pentagon has confirmed that this is video of that attack.

The state of Utah has thousands of troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. 170 Utah airmen from Hill Air Force Base returned from Iraq a week ago after a six and a half month deployment.

Maybe these journalists should not be embedded with the enemy. This is a war, nothing pleasant about it.

The journalists were with armed combatants carrying AK47's and RPG's. American ground patrol in the area was taking fire. Embedded journalists know the risks. What in the name of God were the children doing there?????????

In all its the army not the brightest of the bunch. They had no true vissual of weapons and they could see the children in the van. No wonder they want to blow us up, they were not taking fire and they killed anything that moved. you could tell the difrence from the camra men and unarmed civilians. Two did look to have actual wepons but they did not take the time to find out or distinguish armed and unarmed persons. what were they thinking.

fighting for there lives in this case no that was like shooting fish in a barrell. they were in aircraft far more armed and armoured than the camera they faced that day.
