Iraq: bombs, destruction, deaths, and a mass wedding - slide show

How to quell the mounting violence in Iraq? Since U.S. troops started pulling out, Iraq has witnessed more destruction by way of bombs and explosions though Iraq is trying to extend a conciliatory hand to sectarian reconciliation.
As neighborhoods continue to witness cars burning and homes demolished, some in Iraq are very optimistic. We are referring to the mass wedding which recently took place in Baghdad and instead of throwing rice, the government is handing out $2000 checks to couples who marry people of the opposite 'sect'. So if you are Sunni, and take a Shi'ite for a mate, you're suddenly $2000 richer.
According to an article on Time.Com, Iraqis do not believe that al-Qaeda has the potential to cause the same kind of civil chaos as in the years 2006-2007. Some of today's attacks are tinged with political differences.
1700 couples are celebrating marriage, and perhaps this will encourage better understanding between Shi'ites and Sunni Muslims.
