The iPhone 6 front panel picture appears on a Chinese website after having been reportedly leaked to the Chinese website by a Foxconn worker, according to an April 16 report in VR-ZONE. The leaked picture reveals the much-rumored 4.7-inch screen of iPhone 6 adjacent to the current iPhone for comparison.
The iPhone 6 is also expected to come in a 5.5-inch screen size. Both the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 and the smaller 4.7-inch version are projected to go on sale in September, though there are indications that Apple may introduce the 4.7-inch iPhone version in June.
The website iphon.fr says that the iPhone 6 photo that appears on the Chinese website is given credibility because of its dimensions (though it may be just a prototype). A comparison between the pictured front panel of the purported iPhone 6 and the adjacent current iPhone indicate that while the width to height ratio is the same, the front panel of the purported iPhone 6 is 4.7-inches (diagonally).
One of Apple's goals when it boosted the iPhone 5 front panel display from 3.5-inches to 4-inches was to make sure that the change maintained the same width to height ratio. Maintaining this ratio is essential for Apple so app developers do not have to rewrite their apps. In the iPhone 5 front panel display change, Apple's other main goal was to make sure that the iPhone could be comfortably used in one hand.
The cutouts for the front-facing camera, speaker, IR proximity sensor and Home button are all positioned correctly in the alleged iPhone 6 front panel picture too. Also, the bezels are much narrower than on the current iPhone, in keeping with rumors from other sources. Apple would have to reduce the size of the bezels to increase the display size while keeping the increase in the physical size of the iPhone 6 front panel to a minimum.
Rumors are consistent in saying that Apple will release two versions of the iPhone 6. One version of iPhone 6 is believed to have a 4.7-inch display and the second version of iPhone 6 that may have a 5.5-inch display. So, even if the picture of the iPhone 6 front panel on the Chinese website turns out to be bogus, this picture (visible at the above links) provides a peek at what the iPhone 6 will look like with the smaller of the two rumored dimensions.
This picture of the possible front panel of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 comes as Apple's suppliers of iPhone displays are beginning production for iPhone 6. These manufacturers include Japan Display, LG Display and Sharp.
Observers expect that Apple will use the advanced in-cell touch panel technology of the iPhone 5 in the iPhone 6. This technology permits Apple to make the iPhone thinner than it would if it used the regular touch panel films. The iPhone 6 will also sport a new A8 processor and be lighter.
