The iPhone 5S release date rumors have now given way to some hard facts courtesy of the Apple company themselves. It's been reported that Apple sent out invitations to members of the media on Tuesday morning to alert them to an event in just a week's time.
As reported on Sept. 3 by ABC News, Apple's invites specify a special event for media members to attend on Tuesday, Sept. 10, just a week from now. The invitations had very little information other than "This should brighten everyone's day" along with multi-colored dots, which apparently represent the upcoming iOS 7 operating system. Many are expecting that Apple will officially release that update next week in conjunction with the announcement of their new smartphones. Those smartphones have been rumored for weeks to be the iPhone 5S and 5C, the latter of which will be a cheaper cost version of the iPhone.
The new iPhone 5S is rumored to have a new fingerprint sensor right near the home button which will provide extra security for owners of the device. It should also include improved camera, faster processor and a champagne/gold color choice available rather than the standard black or white color choices.
The new iPhone 5C or iPhone C, said to be a lower-cost alternative to the iPhone 5 or 5S, will consist of a plastic build and come in assortment of colors including blue, green, white or yellow. Both that phone, and the 5S, are expected to have a 4-inch screen just like the predecessor, the iPhone 5.
The mobile operating system will get another upgrade as well, to iOS 7. This new iOS will feature multitasking ability, a brand new Control Center, and easy access to the device settings from any screen. The upgrade is expected to be available for iPad 2, iPad with Retina, iPad Mini, as well as the iPhone 4 smartphone and later (4S, 5, etc).
Apple's Sept. 10 event will be held at the company's Town Hall building with a start time of 10 a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday morning.
