Those iPhone 5S and 5C release date rumors have finally been confirmed during an Apple announcement 2013. In addition, the new iOS7 mobile operating system has been given a release date, just a few days ahead of the newest Apple smartphones. Customers will be ordering online soon, or lining up late next week to be the first to get their hands on the newest smartphones.
According to a CNET report from Sept. 10, the Apple company officially released both the 5S and 5C models of their lineup on Tuesday during a Cupertino, CA press event. As rumored, the new 5S will include a fingerprint scanner to help owners protect their device from unauthorized use. In addition, the new design does away with the traditional basic black iPhone, as there are now gold, space gray or white aluminum options. Also, the 5S will upgrade the camera and include a faster 64-bit A7 processor. Prices for the new model start at $199 for a 16GB version, and then hit $299 for the 32GB and $399 for a 64GB model. For more cost-conscious consumers, Apple will also release the rumored iPhone 5C. The cheaper version of the smartphone starts at $99 for a 16GB model with a two- year contract. The 5C stands out quite a bit as it is offered in a white color, red/orange, yellow, blue and lime green with different-colored case options. Both the iPhone 5S and 5C are set for release dates of Sept. 20, just a week from this Friday. In addition, Apple announced the new iOS 7 mobile operating system upgrade on current iPhones and iPads will be released on Wednesday, Sept. 18. All current iPhone 4, 4S, 5, as well as iPad 2 and iPad Mini owners should be on the lookout for that upgrade to show up for their devices next week.
