iPad's twin: Archos 97 Titanium HD: 9.7 (Photos)

Archos has made many tablets. It actually has more tablets than any other manufacturer. But the new Archos 97 Titanium HD seems to resemble very closely the iPad. To my knowledge the first Android tablet in the 9.7 form factor (iPad form factor). They even point to it having a retina like screen, with a 2048×1536 resolution screen.

Archos, is a French electronics company that has been making their rounds in Android. They seem to specialize now solely in Android products. To be frank some of their products are quite revolutionary:
1. Archos TV Connect – This literally turns your HDTV into a Smart TV with an infrared device and a multifunction remote.
2. Archos GamePad – think Sony PSP but for Android and 7”. Picture seeing this on the subway

They describe themselves as:“In 2010 ARCHOS was the first company to launch a range of 5 Android tablets including 2 revolutionary products; the ACHOS 28 Internet Tablet, the first Android MP3/MP4 player at less than 100€ (~$130 USD), and the ARCHOS 101 Internet tablet, the first 10 inch Android tablet weighing less than 500 grams. Since founded, Archos has constantly innovated in the portable multimedia market. Having introduced several industry firsts ARCHOS maintains an inventive approach to product development.”

Not sure when this will be available in the US (but online you can purchase anything) nor the pricing associated but Archos is another Android company that you may want to look into for the future of Android.

I will be writing more about Archos as I get more information on this tablet and other products. Post your thoughts and follow me on Twitter, join NY Android on Facebook or subscribe here, for the non-obvious perspectives.
