According to iPad rumors, the release of the new iPad 5 is expected to take place Oct. 22. UPI reports Oct. 9 that this is just in time for Apple to get ahead of the holiday rush.
iPad rumors predict that the fifth version will be molded after the mini, only with a slimmer design, improved camera, and have a thinner bezel, making the device narrower. The report added that the iPad's processor, A7X, will "get the same big boost as the iPhone 5s to 64 bit."
The iPad is believed to feature the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. This is identical to the one that's loaded into the iPhone 5s' home button. The iPad mini will get "upgraded to a retina display."
The event iPad release event will also introduce editions of the Macbook Pro and Mac Mini. At that time, release dates for the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks will be announced.

“We… expect growing [desktop] virtualization and iPad deployments in the enterprise to pressure corporate PC sales through 2014-15.. We expect AAPL’s iPad refresh to include 64 bit architecture, which should enable a greater array of enterprise App development and facilitate greater enterprise penetration over time.”
