On Thursday morning, BGR reported that the iPad mini with Retina display has gone into its major production phase. Our own contributor, Los Angeles Industry Analyst Paul Mueller, tells us that he is certain that the upgraded iPad mini will hit the marketplace in October.
The original iPad mini was released last November. Although some critics gave it great reviews, many believed that the 1024 X 768 pixel resolution screen was way behind the times. The device has sold well, but it hasn't been the complete home run Apple had been expecting. That may all be changing soon.
The new iPad mini will likely have a 2048 X 1536 pixel resolution display, which is absolutely incredible on a 7.9-inch unit. This is the same display that the current full-size iPad has. The new iPad mini will also have more powerful stereo speakers and a much better camera. All of this should definitely help Apple gain back its footing in the marketplace. In the past year, things haven't been so bright for Apple.
