Iowa State Fair adds Goo Goo Dolls, Daughtry, and Plain White T's concert

Yesterday, organizers at the Iowa State Fair added yet another big concert to their 2014 Grandstand schedule. On August 9, the Goo Goo Dolls, Daughtry, and Plain White T's will perform an 8 p.m. show. Fair organizers have only announced the first two acts, but the Plain White T's will be on tour with the co-headliners at that time and already have the fair date listed on their website. Tickets for the show will be $39. Tickets for all of the Iowa State Fair's Grandstand shows will go on sale on Saturday, April 12.

In nearly three decades of making music, co-headliners the Goo Goo Dolls have gone from being a no name underground band to enjoying worldwide mainstream success. The band has racked up four Top 10 albums, seventeen Top 10 singles and the four #1 singles "Iris", "Name", "Slide", and "Give a Little Bit". The band also has four Grammy nominations, 4 ASCAP Pop Awards, a Songwriters Hall of Fame Award, and a Radio Music Award.

The concert's other co-headliner, Chris Daughtry, got his big break when he was a finalist on the fifth season of American Idol. His debut album would then go on to top the Billboard 200, sell more than 4 million copies, and produce the smash hit singles "Feels Like Tonight" (featured video), "It's Not Over", and "Home". Daughtry has gone on to amass ten Top 10 singles, four Top 10 albums, five American Music Awards, six Billboard Music Awards, two World Music Awards, a People's Choice Award, and four Grammy nominations.

Best known for their triple-platinum #1 single "Hey There Delilah" and their Top 10 singles "1, 2, 3, 4" and "Rhythm of Love", openers the Plain White T's have become about as mainstream as a pop punk band can get. The T's exploded out of the Chicago club scene to national prominence when "Hey There Delilah" hit #1 a full year after its release. The song would catapult the band to stardom and earn them two Grammy nominations, an American Music Award nomination, an MTV VMA nomination, and a Teen Choice Award. The Plain White T's latest album American Nights was due out today, but has been delayed for a second time.
