Henry Rayhons, 78, is Iowa's state representative for House District 8. He has served the state of Iowa in this position since 1997. On August, 15, 2014 Rayhons was arrested and charged with sexually abusing his own wife, Donna, 78, who died August 8, 2014.

On May 15, 2014 a judge ruled that Donna Lou Young Rayhons, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, was unable to consent to sexual contact. On this same day Rayhons admitted that he had sexual contact with his wife, but did not specify to what extent.

The Class C Felony charges of third degree sexual abuse were brought forward by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. The charges stem from a complaint filed on May 23, when Donna Rayhons' nursing home roommate at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton claims Mr. Rayhons visited his wife and closed the curtain separating the room. The roommate then says she 'heard noises' which would indicate sexual contact, consensual or not, between the elderly couple that had been married since 2007.

Representative Rayhons lost custody of his wife in a salacious story back in June 2014 to his step-daughter, Suzan Brunes, according to globegazette.com. Rayhons had vehemently contested the ruling. Brunes said the custody case and the representative's inability to deal with the situation had caused 'her mother's mental health to deteriorate.' It is not known if Brunes is a mental health specialist, or what qualified her to make such statements of determined deterioration.

A hearing was to be held on August, 12 to revisit the custody issue but unfortunately Mrs. Young Rayhons did not live to see that day.

Before marrying Henry Rayhons, Donna Lou Young Rayhons was Donna Lou Young. She had been married to Leonard Young for 48-years, where they farmed and were professional bee keepers. Leonard Young passed away in 2001.

Representative Rayhons has since posted bail of $10,000 and is currently awaiting his day in court. The seven term representative will not be seeking re-election. His term expires in January 2015.
