Iowa running back Marcus Coker has asked for and been granted a full release from his scholarship. According to a report by the Big Ten Network, Coker has withdrawn his application to enroll in the spring semester.
Coker was suspended for Iowa's bowl game, an Insight Bowl loss to Oklahoma. The suspension was a result of "disciplinary reasons," and a violation of student-athlete code of conduct
Coker rushed for 1,384 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2011, by far leading the Hawkeyes in rushing.
Iowa's leading rusher returning for 2012 now becomes Jordan Canzeri, who rushed for 114 yards in his freshman season.
