The Iowa football team grabbed another verbal commitment this weekend when Detroit, Mich., cornerback Desmond King told the coaching staff he would be a Hawkeye, according to HawkeyeInsider.com’s Rob Howe.
King was part of several recruits who made their way to Iowa City this weekend for official and unofficial visits.
King is expected to play either cornerback or running back at Iowa. He is ranked No. 60 and given three stars as a CB by scout.com. He is 5-foot-11, 180 pounds.
The future Hawkeye’s other major offer came from Wisconsin, while he also had offers from Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ball State, Buffalo and Northern Illinois.
Bo Brower visits Iowa
Another athlete on campus this weekend was instate recruit Bo Brower of West Branch.
Brower currently has a verbal commitment to the Northern Iowa Panthers but also has a chance to walk-on to the football team at Iowa.
Brower does not yet know what he is going to do but came away impressed with the coaches at both schools. He also visited with current Iowa walk-ons as well as Iowa LB coach LaVar Woodley, who would be Brower’s primary position coach in college.
National Signing Day is quickly approaching. These verbal commitments listed below are expected to sign on the dotted line during the first week of February.
