Iowa Fishing Area: Prairie City Sports Complex in Prairie City, Iowa

Prairie City, best known for the home of Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge, offers more than just buffalo to its residents. The newest addition to the town, the Prairie City Sports Complex, is a fantastic fishing spot for both families and individuals in the Jasper county area.

Locals and visitors have quite a few options for a day of entertainment or relaxation at the sports complex. In addition to a stocked pond of small fish, you will also find a biking or walking path, playground equipment for the kids, benches lining the park, plus soccer and softball fields. During games, this unique recreation area opens its concession stand for drinks and snacks.

Prairie City’s sport complex is located on the edge of town, and can be seen from highway 163. The park can be found by exiting 163 at the Prairie City exit, and heading into town. Take a right when you see the sign for Business District (you will turn in the opposite direction of the business district). For more information, you can call City Hall at 515-994-2649.
